 Blepharoplasty  is a type of surgery that removes excess skin from the eyelids. With age, eyelids stretch, and the muscles supporting them weaken. As a result, excess skin and fat can gather above and below your eyelids. This can cause sagging eyebrows, droopy upper lids and bags under the eyes.

Besides aging, severely sagging skin around the eyes can reduce side vision (peripheral vision), especially the upper and outer parts of the visual field. Blepharoplasty can reduce or get rid of these vision problems. The surgery can also make eyes look younger and more alert.

 VASER liposuction is a surgical fat-removal procedure that uses ultrasonic vibration, or “vibration amplification of sound energy at resonance” (VASER), to break up unwanted fat and free it from the surrounding tissue before it’s sucked out through a hollow tube (a cannula). 

VASER lipo is a less invasive procedure that’s gentler on the surrounding tissue than, suction-assisted liposuction (SAL). Plastic surgeons who prefer VASER to standard lipo say it results in less swelling, bruising, pain, and downtime.

This outpatient procedure can be performed on most areas of the body, including the:

• thighs, calves, and ankles 
• buttocks and hips 
• abdomen, back, and flanks (aka love handles) 
• upper arms  
• neck and under the chin 

It's also a good gynecomastia treatment (male breast reduction), in cases where the condition is caused by excess fat.

Pros

• With VASER lipo, sound waves make fat extraction easier and more uniform, resulting in smoother skin. 
• Because it targets the fat cells without damaging the surrounding tissue, it creates less post-procedure swelling and bruising than traditional liposuction, which requires more forceful manual “jabbing” to break up fatty tissue. 
• Recovery is shorter and less painful than after tumescent liposuction, because the nerves and tissue surrounding the treatment area are less likely to be disturbed. Patients who only have one area done may only need a few days of downtime, though it’s possible to need up to two weeks of downtime if you have multiple areas treated. 

Cons

• The amount of fat that can be removed with any lipo technique is limited, but less fat can be removed via VASER than traditional liposuction. Those with a large amount of fat to remove may need to undergo more than one VASER procedure. 
• If VASER liposuction isn’t performed properly, the heat-generating probe can burn the skin. Be sure to consult with board-certified surgeons who are experienced performing VASER liposuction and take the necessary precautions to prevent complications from the procedure.  
• Swelling can take three and six months to fully resolve, so while you’ll see an immediate difference, you’ll have to wait to see your final results.
